In the first episode of this series, Dan talked about why he chose Southern Pacific’s Donner Pass line, SP’s Roseville Subdivision, as the theme for his future HO scale layout.
Choosing a time and place to model is great, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg.
It’s a big task to take the vague idea of modeling a certain area and turning it into a detailed, workable plan. Questions arise like, how much will fit? Which scenes should I model? How will it operate?
It was a daunting task for Dan, and he went through several false starts and some analysis paralysis.
In this episode Da talks about how he came up with a list of design goals and constraints to help him get out of the planning doldrums. This process can be used to help develop any track plan.
