The modern Greek alphabet has twenty-four letters. It contained more at one point, but several characters lost favor, and usage of them stopped before the Classical Period (around the 5th and 4th centuries BC).
It is essential that you learn the Greek alphabet as a first step in studying the Greek language. You cannot learn anything else until you do.
It’s easiest to learn the alphabet by pronouncing the letters out loud as you write them, over and over.
