In this video we'll explain the Russian case system, using the feminine noun собака. We'll focus on explaining the primary function of each case. Remember - nouns, pronouns, and adjectives are affected by the case system, but verbs are not. One pupose of the case system is to indicate the function of a noun (i.e. subject, direct object, indirect object, etc). We will post follow-up videos on the grammatical genders of Russian nouns, and the endings of nouns and adjectives for each case and gender. 05:05 Nominative Case: Subject / "Dictionary" form 05:46 Genitive Case: Possession / Attribution 07:44 Dative Case: Indirect Object / "Experiencer" (i.e. "мне холодно") 09:20 Accusative Case: Direct Object 10:30 Instrumental Case: Instrument / Tool / c + Instrumental = "with" 12:08 Prepositional Case: Location / About (always used with a preposition) 😀 Learn Russian with the Russian Readers app! 👇👇 🔑 Unlock the 7-day free trial to try everything out! 📚 All stories are narrated and translated. 🔥 Many focus specifically on grammar, and include video explanations!
