WHAT?! It's actually fun to learn how to play the scale on the practice chanter?! This is the first lesson to get you bagpipe ready. We start out by helping the fingers of the top hand find those dang holes by playing the high part of the tune; "Cock O' The North". Too many could be bagpipers end up being wish-I-coulda bagpipers because they never master the basics of the practice chanter. Mastery takes repetition. To stick with it, we need to be having fun. Less boring exercises and more quick wins with great tunes, please! I have been playing the bagpipes since I was 9 years old. Playing the pipes is second nature to me. I was humbled when I started learning to play the banjo as an adult. I'm telling you from one adult learner to another, if it ain't fun, we will find something else to do. I am here to bring the fun to the chanter and help you stick with it long enough to memorize your first tune so you can go out and buy a set of pipes, join a band, or pay an Instructor the big bucks.
