Lecture 14: First Order Circuits (RL and RC Circuits) with Non Constant Sources

Video Not Working? Fix It Now

To correctly solve first order RL and RC circuits, we need to solve a first order differential equation. This video covers a convenient 10 step recipe which will help you solve first order circuits containing non-constant (time dependent) sources. We also describe the physical significance of the natural and forced response and briefly review the strategy introduced in our previous lecture about a shortcut for circuits which have constant sources. Finally, we complete two full length examples of the 10 step recipe in action. I highly recommend following along with the examples in this video and verifying that you can solve them yourself. Note: these videos are original lecture recordings I have been making for my own classes and am sharing here in case they may be helpful to others as well. These videos are currently a work in progress over the course of the semester. I welcome your comments and feedback.
