" Hi everyone and welcome back for another exciting Waltz figure. In today's video we'll be demonstrating the Left Whisk as danced in the Waltz. When dancing a Left Whisk in isolation it's always preferred to do a wind-up step like we've just done. A forward step for the man and a backward step for the lady. As the left whisk is a left turning figure the wind up will be done to the right. You can see that preparation right now, to the right, unwinding to the left for the whisking action. The styling for the lady's Left Whisk can be done either with a flick with the foot coming off the ground or by keeping the right toe connected to the floor.
And now we're on to our solo demonstrations starting with the lady. In this particular version of the Left Whisk we are swivelling back into a checking action. But you could conceivably dance pivots or another natural turning figure after the Left Whisk. And now a closer look at the leg action and the footwork. And we're now moving on to the solo demonstration for the man. As is the case for all line figures, it's very important not to be too active with your arms and to allow them to stay nice and connected to the body so that any rotation and sway done in the body is also achieved through the frame."
