Leonard’s homecoming into Turtle Mountain, after being taken away for five decades, consisted of around 100 vehicles lined up on both sides of HWY 281. Elders, families, youth, and long-time supporters showed up to Turtle Mountain for their ogichidaa (warrior).
It’s a testament to the deep and unwavering belief that the struggle for our liberation is not only necessary but inevitable. Leonard’s journey pictured in this video represents not just the long years of struggle, it also represents the strength and resilience of all the people who took part in this fight to get Leonard free.
“We’re going to win. We’re going to continue to win…we’re going to continue until we are a free nation…They have not broken me. I am not broken,”–Leonard Peltier
