After much anticipation in the previous weeks, today Sir Lewis Hamilton finally made his dynamic debut behind the wheel of a Ferrari F1 car (the SF-23, to be precise) also showing off his new yellow helmet for this new adventure.
As per tradition Ferrari schedules a so-called “wake-up” test for both its drivers (and generally even for the reserve driver) on their home circuit, Fiorano, at the end of January. This training session helps the drivers to regain the feeling with all the lateral forces, braking and all those mechanisms that a simulator cannot transmit after the winter break. They can be held in compliance with the Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) regulations, according to which teams can have their drivers carrying out these tests using cars from previous seasons but with various and stringent limitations.
Compared to previous years during which each Ferrari F1 driver had a whole day of testing at his disposal, either because of the weather conditions or due to the new stringent rules for 2025 on TPCs, this year the day was shared among both Lewis and Charles but they both did very few laps. It's also true that next week the team will move to Barcelona for two days of training on a proper track.
