Bill was born in Melbourne's inner west in 1915. As a young boy, he quickly developed a passion for sports, and it was not long before he became enamoured with his local VFL team, the Footscray Bulldogs.
He became school captain at Scotch College where he was a notable athlete, serving as the school’s rowing captain and ruckman for the 1st XVIII. His prowess in the sports arena continued to grow, and during his time at Melbourne University, he played rugby for Victoria.
However, Bill's sporting endeavours were just one facet of his life. After completing his studies, Bill was ordained as a Presbyterian minister. Over the course of a long and fulfilling career, he served as a minister for almost half a century throughout South Australia, Victoria, and Tasmania.
Now, at 107 years old, Bill is still very much full of ideas and conviction.
