For months, residents of Sydney nursing home Newmarch House were effectively locked in as coronavirus raged through the facility.
The toll has been devastating – 34 staff members and 37 residents were infected. Of them, 19 have died, making it Australia’s second most deadly coronavirus cluster.
Over 40 days, Four Corners investigated the decisions made by the facility, the state, and the federal health department, regarding the care of those who fell ill.
Their families want to know whether their sick relatives were kept in the nursing home rather than being sent to hospital to stop the virus spreading into the community.
