From 1941 to 1952, the Soviet government deported over 130 thousand Lithuanians to labor camps in the northern USSR. At the age of seven, our heroine found herself in forced labor in the Komi Republic. Genė Rekošaitė, a noblewoman from one of the wealthiest families in Lithuania, spent her entire youth in timber harvesting.
Genė's daughter struggles to reconcile her love for her adopted homeland, Russia, and her connection to the historical homeland. For many years, she collects family history and tries to rebuild ties with relatives in Europe. However, with the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, maintaining these connections becomes increasingly difficult.
