US President Donald Trump has launched yet another attack on global agencies. In his latest move, Trump has imposed sanctions on the officials of the International Criminal Court (ICC), accusing the global judicial body of unfairly targeting the US and its close ally, Israel "without a legitimate basis". Since, the US and Israel have not signed the Rome Statute, they are not bound by the findings or rulings of the ICC. This is not the first time Trump has targeted ICC. During his first term, in 2020, Trump had sanctioned ICC officials for probing war crimes in Afghanistan. While Israel has supported President Trump's move, the European Union has opposed it, saying that Trump is undermining the international criminal justice system. ICC, too, has condemned Trump's sanctions. Trump is known for abruptly pulling out of multiple treaties and global agencies, putting the global order at grave risk.
