I sometimes like to take a painting that I've already done, or a painting by a great master and learn from it by making a copy. Today I am doing a copy of a painting I did in 1997 and putting it up to use as my model. In my mind I'm remembering how it felt to be out there in the courtyard with the turkey - all the gestures, squawks, scratches and noises they make. I'm trying to open my mind to the memory of that sensory experience.
