The Week magazine, citing an account in Dawn, reports that India could have lost six air force planes in Operation Sindoor. They are said to be three Rafales, one Mirage-2000, one Sukhoi-30 and one MiG-29. It’s claimed they were downed by the Pakistan air force flying Chinese-made J10C planes and using Chinese-made PL-15 Beyond Visual Range missiles. How should we respond to these reports? Second, whilst the Chief of Defence Staff says ‘numbers are not important’, would he not have stated the number if that were actually the case? Third, does the loss of planes suggest there are key lessons the Indian air force needs to urgently learn? Those are the issues we shall raise today with the Editor of Force Magazine, Pravin Sawhney. That’s live at 3.00 p.m. on Wednesday the 11th (10.30 a.m. in London and 5.30 a.m. in Washington DC).
