In Search of the Grand Canyon
In this adventure we explore some of the Forgotten Treasures in northern Arizona. Our goal for this adventure is to make it to the Grand Canyon, but in this first video we start at the Cinder Hills OHV area in the Coconino Natioinal Forest which was created with the last eruption of the Sunset Crater almost a 1000 years ago in 1085. When then overland to the north where we cross the Arizona Trail as we head into the Kaibab National Forest. We finally make our way to the Red Butte Airfield where the Historic Grand Canyon Airlines once called home. in our second video of this series we explore both the south and north rim of the Grand Canyon.
This Northern Arizona overland route combines geological wonder, technical driving, history, and solitude in one adventure-packed trip. Whether you’re chasing black cinder trails or walking the ghostly remains of aviation history, Cinder Hills and Red Butte Airfield will leave you with a deep respect for the wild spirit of the Southwest.
