Logic Pro: Get Off The Grid

Grid lines, Quantize, drawing notes which snap to specific timing values… sometimes it’s easy to feel as though our productions aren’t breathing from a timing perspective. We’ll start with a beat loop programmed with the Pencil Tool and look at ways to unpick rigid timing. I’ll also record a Bass part and refuse to entertain the idea of Quantizing it (!), whilst we’ll also see that there are selective ways to ‘de-Quantize’ parts of a performance if we want to correct the timing of some notes and not others. We’ll also see how manual adjustments and the Nudge function can help.
