Video Not Working? Fix It Now

Smart Controls have been in Logic for a long time, but they're easily overlooked as Automation often allows us to add movement to a track in post-production. Often, we want to be able to see Lanes of parameter changes at the mix stage and Automation feels like the most efficient way of achieving that. But that's to overlook some exciting performance options which the Smart Controls Inspector allows us to configure. In this video, Jono will show you how to reset Smart Control assignments and start from scratch with a Template appearance of your choice. He'll teach you how to map controllers and how to assign those to a physical controller on your keyboard or via Logic Remote for iPad. He'll also show you how to control the range of any assignment and how to map multiple parameters to a single Smart Control, introducing some real sophistication to the playability of your assignments. We'll also learn that mappings can be triggered from key switches, before discussing how you might apply all of this to creating a realtime version of the One Note Track. 00:00 Intro 00:52 What are Smart Controls? 01:55 Deleting Smart Control mappings 02:51 Choosing the Smart Control template appearance 03:37 Mapping, two ways 05:02 Smart Controls via Logic Remote on iPad 06:31 Deliberately limiting the Range value 09:23 Assigning multiple parameters to one Smart Control 12:07 Mapping a dial to the Modulation wheel 13:49 How could we link Smart Controls to the One Note Track? 14:36 Understanding a Smart Control trigger switch 16:15 Learning a trigger assignment 16:45 Restricting Key Range 17:45 Setting B1 as a key trigger 19:04 Exploring our new tactile synth sound 19:48 Summary
