Yardlong Beans, also known as yardlong bean, pea bean, long-podded cowpea, Chinese long bean, snake bean, bodi, and bora, are a delicious vegetable grown in rural areas in Sri Lanka. In our journey, we found a farm that grows yardlong beans, and we decided to incorporate them into our meal plan.
We went to Kekirawa, Thorayaya village located in the Anuradhapura district, north-central part of Sri Lanka. It was an amazing time for us. In this episode, we visited a long bean garden and picked a lot of long beans. There are red, green, and mixed-colored long beans. We picked long beans and took them to a nearby villager's garden. We prepared a traditional Sri Lankan style curry using long beans. Thorayaya villagers helped us to make this amazing recipe. We also made red dhal curry and white rice for lunch.
