The late blues singer/guitarist Long John Baldry had three Top 40 hits and a #1 song (1967's "Let The Heartaches Begin") on the UK Singles chart but hasn't had the same success in the US. The aformentioned "Let The Heartaches Begin" peaked at #88 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1967 and #73 with "Don't Try To Lay No Boogie-Woogie On The King Of Rock & Roll" in 1971. In 1979, he released his final chart entry with a very soulful but mournful cover of the Righteous Brothers' classic ballad, "You've Lost That Loving Feeling". Baldry's version, recorded as a duet with Kathi MacDonald, peaked at #45 in Canada and #89 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song, released only as a single (and not included on any album), did better in Europe, where it went to #37 in New Zealand and, a year later, #2 in Australia. If you like soulful covers, then this is worth a listen.
