Perched atop a steep hill overlooking the town of Ghor al-Safi, the cave offers panoramic views of the southeastern Dead Sea region. The ascent to the cave is a challenging 10-minute climb up a steep flight of steps, rewarding visitors with a profound sense of history and spirituality upon arrival.

Archaeological excavations have unveiled that the cave was first utilized during the Early Bronze Age (3300–2000 BC). Surrounding the cave are the remnants of a Byzantine monastery complex, including a basilica dating from the 5th to 8th centuries AD, a reservoir, and mosaic fragments, all of which underscore the site's long-standing religious significance.
