We've been dreaming of climbing University Peak since the first time we laid eyes on it several years ago while hiking the Kearsarge Pass trail. Its jagged cliff faces towering over the beautiful Eastern Sierra lakes below make for a hauntingly alluring summit attempt. However, hiking to the top of University Peak is no easy task: the trail climbs 5,000 feet over 10 miles, mostly off trail (requiring plenty of bouldering and class 3/4 scrambling) and all at very high altitude. Not to mention, once you get to the summit ridge line, there are multiple challenging chutes to choose between to reach your final summit views. However, the challenges of the climb are completely made up for by the stunning views of Kearsarge Lakes and the entire Eastern Sierra ridgeline. This is one of our most memorable Eastern Sierra hikes that we've ever done - and we hope when you watch the vid you will quickly see why! #hiking #easternsierra #californiahiking
