This is an easy beginners tutorial for macrame bunting/garland/banner. Perfect for bedrooms, nurseries, parties, weddings and many more!
Great for beginners as they are made of only three knots: Lark's Head Knots, square knots and diagonal double half hitch knots.
This tutorial was made using my own Green Cotton single twist yarn in 5mm Natural. Please follow this link to buy yarns:

To make each flag for the bunting, you will need 10x 1 meter of 5mm cord. Knot each of these onto a long piece of cord (this will be what you hang up). The size of each flag is dependant on your cord and the tension used when creating them. In this example, my flag is approx 11cm wide. I recommend overestimating the length of the long cord you tie the flags onto the first time you make one. For reference, I used a 1m length to hold 3 flags and have enough length to tie up either end.
I completed the first knots in real time so you can easily follow along and then sped the process up.
My technique for knotting diagonal double half hitch knots is not the traditional method but I find it helps me keep the strands of cotton together. Please use whatever method works best for you!
I’ve included three different ways to finish off your flags. These can be done with sharp scissors or a rotary cutter.
