@himalayanbuff Shri Madhyamaheshwar or Madmaheshwar trek (2nd Panch Kedar in Uttarakhand) begins from Ransi which is a small village near Ukhimath. Madhyamaheshwar is located at a height of 11500 feet. Madmaheshwar temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed that Lord Shiva's navel or middle part appeared here and for that reason this place was called Madhyamaheshwar.
Madhyamaheshwar is not easily accessible by road. To reach Madmaheshwar first you have to reach Ukhimath. And from Ukhimath you have to go to Ransi. The trekking route begins from Ransi Village. From Ransi, the trek takes you through beautiful forests & rivers which gives you divine spiritual feeling. The total distance of Madmaheshwar trek from Ransi is 16 kms one side. First 6 kilometers the trek goes downhill but for next 10kms the trek is challenging. After Ransi your next stop is Gaundar which is a small village on the bank of Madhuganga river. After Gaundar you reach Bantoli which is one kilometer from Gaundar. Bantoli has 2 parts namely Lower & Upper Bantoli.
There are limited home stays options on the trekking route. You can stay in Gaundar and Bantoli. There are many small homestays at these places. At Madhyamaheshwar, you can stay in simple guesthouses near Temple. The best time to to trek Madhyamaheshwar trek is from May to June and September to October. During the winter, the place receives heavy snowfall & trek becomes impossible.
