काशी में महाशिवरात्रि के अवसर पर भव्य शिव बारात निकाली गई. मेदाखीन चौराहे से शुरू होकर बारात बाबा विश्वनाथ धाम होते हुए पार्वती मंदिर तक पहुंची. लाखों श्रद्धालुओं ने बारात में भाग लिया. बैंड-बाजे के साथ नाचते-गाते लोग शिव के स्वागत में शामिल हुए. विभिन्न देवी-देवताओं की झांकियां भी बारात का हिस्सा थीं. प्रशासन ने भीड़ नियंत्रण के लिए विशेष व्यवस्था की. 140 साल बाद आए महाकुंभ का समापन भी इसी दिन हुआ.
