Pidi karunai masiyal is an old-style dish that is very healthy, and Yam is a root-type vegetable and it’s been fading from our kitchen in recent times. Even supermarkets and grocery stores, have only a small section of this Pidi Karunai because of less demand. But the important part is this pidi karunai is rich in vitamin C and you can make number of super healthy dish.
This is a long cooking process and it’s worth the time and effort. Please follow the instructions carefully because one simple mistake will make change the flavour and uniqueness of the dish.

Here are the ingredients for the dish
Pidi Karunai masiyal
Pidi karunai - 200 gms
Chilli Powder – ¾ tsp
Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
Tamarind – 1 small lemon size
Groundnut oil – 3 tbs
Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
Shallots - 15 nos
Green chilli - 2 nos
Curry leaves – Few
Asafoetida – ¼ tsp
Ginger(chopped) – 1 tsp
Gingelly oil – 1 ½ tbs
Coriander Leaves - few
Salt – As per taste
