Hello Friends and welcome to another art studio vlog. Whether you call them oil sticks or oil bars, here are my secrets, tips, and tricks on making your own oil sticks. It's a simple process and gives you endless possibilities for mixing your own oil sticks or oil bars. You can change the opacity of oil paints and create oil sticks of your favorite oil paint color blends. These are slow drying giving you more working time and no fuss pealing before you begin, freeing up time to allow you to just get in the flow of creating! The recipe is 1 part oil paint 1-2 parts refined safflower oil 2-3 parts bleached beeswax These oil sticks can be used over acrylic paint and other art mediums or used alongside your oil paint. IMPORTANT NOTE. Please be aware the ingredients are to be heated very gently to avoid any vapor/gas being released. Always work in a well ventilated space. Caution is advised when working with some pigments like the cadmium family, among others. while the risk through art materials is marginal care must be taken to avoid getting any on soft skin and to especially watch you do not accidentally ingest any paint ie. from hand-to-mouth transfer. Always use any pigments at your own discretion.
