Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!
When we draw from observation, it’s tempting to try and match every color we see in reality. But guess what? You don’t have to!
Being creative with your palette can bring more expression and personality to your drawings. There’s no rule that says you have to stick to real-life colors. Make up colors that reflect your mood or the scene’s vibe—or borrow colors from a completely different scene!
In this video, I’ll add pops of bright color to the drawing I made last week, using watercolors inspired by the mood and energy I felt during a visit to the forest.
Assignment:
Revisit your continuous line drawing from last week (or create a new one!) and experiment with color. Choose a palette inspired by your surroundings, photos, or your current mood. Have fun and embrace the process—it’s all about exploring and learning!
