Making a SMOOTH BOOM BAP BEAT using only 2 Chords:
I was listening to samples to inspire the first beat in my session, and I came across a sample that sparked my interest for one reason in particular…
It wasn’t the whole pattern that caught me, but just ONE CHORD. This got me thinking—if I just set this chord to two different pitches and had that be the backbone of the beat, would it be enough?
Join me in this boom bap beat making session, where we try to do the most with the least. Hopefully, you’ll agree that you only need two solid chords—or better yet, one solid chop—to build a smooth, sampled hip hop beat.
