I made this small coffee spoon using mostly power tools from an old tree limb laying outside my shop. The limb is from a live oak tree and had a considerable amount of spalting, almost to the point where the wood was unusable. There were a few soft spots where the wood had decayed on the spoon bowl. You'll notice in a few shots that a small section of the spoon bowl actually broke off because of the softness. The wood itself was not as attractive as I hoped it to be, but certainly unique in figure and color.
