Making a Dress for Spring with Marian Martin 9179 #vintagestyle #springfashion
In this weeks video we are making Marian Martin dress 9179. This dress was the pattern which received the most votes on my community page a few weeks ago. Overall I am very pleased with this dress and can't wait to get some more use out of it.
The solid navy fabric is a linen like cotton. The printed fabric is a soft dress cotton and the top shoulder pieces are muslin cotton. This dress is very breathable and has a lovely drape to the skirt.
Things I changed and didn't mention - I decided at the end to leave the buttons off the top shoulders of this dress. I had pulled out some large round navy buttons from my tin to add as accessories - but in the end felt they took away from the dress instead of adding. I am happy with this choice and would likely make this decision again if using a print for the front bib of the bodice. I would however add them if I was using a solid throughout.
