A video showing how I made a ceramic mortar and pestle using a pottery wheel and hand carving.
The biggest challenge when making something this thick, is to allow adequate drying and to fire slow. I let mine dry in a warm room in my house for two weeks. The final product is very heavy and doesn't have a high pitched ring that other thinner ceramic mortars may have.

Clay used: Laguna B-Mix Cone 5
I left this video rather uncut, and with limited fast forwarding for those of you who want to watch the full process or skip to a spot you want to watch. No music and limited talking in this one as well. Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think of the longer format compared to a 10-12 minute highly trimmed style.
Thanks again, and don't forget to subscribe.
