One piece selvedge denim fly construction.
A mini documentary on Paul Kruize, maker of bespoke jeans, shirts and other garments, made by Richard Bussink.
The making of a one piece selvedge denim fly.
This video shows the construction of the one piece selvedge fly, also know as the continuous fly. This fly construction was originally patented by David Neustadter in 1877. It is a clean and simple way of making a button fly that is not seen much in the industry. I used this method for a few years. The only problem was it needed a cut in the fabric. See my video "Making a Pair of Jeans' from 09:00 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDePy3nQnS4&t=0s
Recently I analyzed a more recent, improved version where no cut is needed, making it an even stronger construction. This video shows how it is done. Enjoy!
