This is a guide on making a shirt toile that can be made in advance of the real thing to quickly test patterns.
The point here is to be as fast and cheap as possible to check whether the pattern fits and works on the body, so that appropriate and any major changes can be made before the final cloth is cut.
Just to note that “toile” does have two meanings relating to textiles and fashion, so be aware.
