I made liquid soap using the cold process method! I learned this method through this Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ColdProcessLiqSoap I’ve gotten books and seen lots of resources around making liquid soap using the hot process method. Although I was able to make soap using that method, My experience with Soapmaking is with cold process, so I was never fully comfortable with making liquid soap that way. Also, I couldn’t seem to get the consistency right when using hot process, partly because when the soap is hot, it is thinner than it will be when cooled down, so I never knew when to stop adding water. I’m sure if I worked on it more, I’d learn how much to add, but then I found the cold process method and realized I didn’t need to do it that way! This is my first attempt at using the dual lye method: using both NAOH and KOH, and I really like how it came out. Stay tuned til the end for the lather test! UPDATE: I've gotten various requests for my recipe. The one that I used here is copied below for your reference. 70% Olive Oil 15% Hemp Seed Oil 10% Mango Butter 5% Castor Oil Lye solution was a NAOH/KOH ratio of 30/70 with a superfat of 2%. I use soapee to calculate my lye when making liquid soap because it allows for you to select a dual-lye solution (it's the "hybrid soap" option). http://soapee.com/calculator
