Today I'm making some of my favorite immune-boosting recipes. Join to learn how to make elderberry syrup from dried berries. I'll also share how to turn elderberry syrup into elderberry gummies for immune support while traveling. Elderberry Syrup Recipe: (I left out the cinnamon, cloves, & ginger) https://happyhealthymama.com/homemade-elderberry-syrup-recipe.html Elderberry Gummy Recipe: (from @elizabethhorak1155 ) Ingredients: 2/3 c. elderberry syrup (homemade or bottled) 2 T. honey 2 T powdered gelatin (grass fed beef gelatin or Knox packets) Utensils: silicon candy molds and a dosing syringe; or sheet pan coated with coconut oil parchment paper. Small saucepan or double boiler; Mix together the syrup and honey in a small saucepan. Sprinkle gelatin evenly over the mixture, then stir together with a whisk. Let the mixture stand for 5 minutes. This allows the gelatin to “bloom.” You should notice the mixture becoming grainy and thick, about the consistency of applesauce. If you are using candy molds, then while your mixture stands, place your candy molds on a sheet pan for support and prepare a syringe or dropper to fill each mold with syrup. If you are using a sheet pan instead of a mold, line it with parchment paper or coat with coconut oil. On a double boiler or stovetop set to very low heat, warm the mixture until it returns to a clear liquid state (about 5 minutes), stirring constantly. Turn the heat off if you see any steaming or foam; slowly melt the gelatin. Keep warm (but not heating) and begin filling your candy molds. Fill as quickly as possible; the gelatin mixture will begin to set. If you are making the gummies on a sheet pan rather than a mold, then pour the mixture onto the parchment paper and spread evenly across the pan. Allow your gelatin to cool in the fridge for about 30 minutes. Then cut into squares or remove from the molds. Allow to dry on a sheet of parchment paper for optimal taste. Coat with a small amount of coconut oil. Store in the fridge in a container that has been lined with a paper towel or cheesecloth, to absorb any condensation.
