Making longer songs with a 16-step Sequencer like Mimetic Digitalis using a switch like Vice Virga

Video Not Working? Fix It Now

The #mimeticdigitalis from @NoiseEngineering is an incredibly powerful sequencer in a super small #eurorackmodular package - and it therefore has some limitations… this video explains one way to get past one of those limitations… getting a 64-step sequence with the 4channels of 16-steps each. FULL VICE VIRGA TUTORIAL VIDEO HERE: https://youtu.be/xAbZ6_PY21E If you want to truly understand the patching and advancing logic, watch that video linked above. On #eurorack half the fun is jumping through hoops to do things that might be super easy on a DAW like #Ableton, or a hardware sequencer like #Deluge or #akaiforce or a million others. In this case, I use the #vicevirga Sequential Switch to traverse the 4 channels to get a full 64-steps. Now this method takes away a super power of the MD, that it can provide 4 cv-values of polyphony if I have 4 Oscillators available. Now of course Noise Engineering could make this easier with the ability to automate the loading of patterns from memory, but the hardware is not yet wired to allow that as a firmware update, so let’s be happy with this monophonic solution for now 😊😊 If you have a different 16-step sequencer that does allow loading a new pattern via CV/Trigger, you can use a similar patch with a programmable #sequentialswitch like Vice Virga. #electronicmusic #modular #learnmodular #fEDUary Here's an index to the video: 0:00 - Intro 0:45 - overview description 1:30 - Vice Virga Patching 2:30 - advancing Vice Virga 3:40 - VIce Virga settngs
