Making R2-D2 Part 4. Finally, the dome gets finished. Today we'll be gluing in the dome panels, logic panels, fitting the holoprojectors and lower rings.
A few issues cropped up, but by pointing them out, hopefully you can avoid them or at least be prepared for them if you choose to make your own full size 3D printed R2-D2 dome.

Working time I spent to complete the Mr. Baddeley 3D printed dome (not including waiting for parts & printer down time when a bearing & fan needed to be replaced) was about 5-6 weeks. Basically working on it during my spare time a few evenings a week and a couple full weekend days. I wasn't rushing at all through most of it and just took my time to enjoy the process which was both fun & relaxing. However, some things like sanding and painting I don't particularly enjoy, so I admit I rushed through them a bit and that showed up in the finish unfortunately.

5 - rolls of 1kg 1.75mm silver PLA+ filament
1 - roll of 1kg 1.75mm blue PLA+ filament
2 - cans Dupliccolor dark gray sandable primer spray paint (should have used 3 for at least 3 coats)
1.5 - cans Duplicolor Sonic Blue Pearl spray paint
1 - can Rustoleum 2X Ultra Cover Metallic Aluminum spray paint
1/2 - can Rustoleum 2X Ultra Cover Clear Gloss spray paint
1/4 - can light weight auto body filler
1/3 - tube Bondo Glazing/Spot putty
1/3 - tube Silver Leaf Rub N Buff
1oz - bottle of medium thickness CA glue
1/2 - tube Household Goop Glue or Shoe Goo
