Peter introduces Barbara Whelan, an accomplished spinner and weaver. She introduces sprang to us and showcases her creations in silk, linen and wool. We see a sprang sash she created for the Brigadier General of the British Armed Forces in the War of 1812. She also discusses the different linen embellishments, focussing on the those used by the Acadians. She has numerous looms and weaves her own creations from tea towels, to blankets and shawls. She finishes by demonstrating weaving a strap on a paddle loom. Remember to subscribe to our channel to dive deeper into the fascinating stories of the past that continue to shape our present.
