MAKKAN PEDA
INGREDIENTS
PEDA
1. Wheat flour - 1 cup
2. Sugarless Kova - 1/2 cup
3. Baking powder - 1/4 tsp
4. Thick curd - 2 tsp
5. Ghee - 1 tsp
6. Nuts for stuffing
7. Oil for frying
SUGAR SYRUP
1. Sugar - 2 cups
2. Water - 2 cups
3. Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
4. Rose essence - 2 drops (optional)
5. Saffron - few strands (optional)
PREPARATION
SUGAR SYRUP PREP
1. In a bowl add 2 cups sugar, 1 cup water and dissolve well on the stove.
2. Then add another cup of water and mix well.
3. Add 1/2 tsp cardamom powder, few strings saffron (optional)
4. Let the sugar syrup boil well for 10 minutes.
5. No consistency is needed. Colour changes and sugar syrup is ready.
PEDA PREP
1. In a bowl, sieve 1 cup of wheat flour. Add 1/4 tsp baking powder. Mix well.
2. Add 1/2 cup unsweetened kova, 2 tsp thick curd, 1 tsp ghee. Mix everything well.
3. Add little bit of water and form a dough.
4. Knead the dough for extra 5 minutes to get a soft dough.
5. Rest for 5 minutes.
6. Nuts of your choice can be cut for the stuffing.
7. Take a small ball and roll well without cracks. Form a cup shape. Add nuts inside and close it.
8. Roll the ball and flatten a little into peda shape.
9. Fry them in hot oil. Flip over until golden brown.
10. Add in hot sugar syrup.
11. Add 2 drops rose essence (optional)
12. Soak for 3 to 4 hours or overnight.
Tasty, Juicy, Soft Makkan Pedas are ready.
