Man Turns Rocky Mountain Into a Dream Farmhouse – Watch the Transformation
Imagine a determined man with a dream and a hill—specifically, a chunk of the rugged Chinese Loess Plateau. Instead of building on the hill, he built in it, creating a farmhouse that’s part fairy tale, part engineering marvel.
Step one? Heavy machinery. Bulldozers and excavators transformed the slope into luxury caves for livestock. To keep things safe and sturdy, the walls were reinforced with a mix of water, earth, and straw, creating a cozy, insulated finish.
The project tackled every challenge, from building a system for managing animal waste (because flammable slurry isn’t cute) to integrating a vegetable garden and outdoor kitchen. Trenches were cemented for waste disposal, and the cave floors got a soil-cement layer, making them easy to maintain. Meanwhile, the roof was reinforced with fire-resistant metal beams, ensuring durability and a sleek aesthetic.
Inside, three caves became farmer apartments, offering natural insulation that’s cool in summer and warm in winter. Brick walls, wooden frames, and decorative touches turned these spaces into mountain retreats, complete with porcelain-tiled bathrooms and custom cabinets. Glass windows with vents brought in fresh air and natural light.
Electrical wiring was installed during construction, so these “luxury caves” offer modern amenities. Outside, terraces were converted into gardens, with nutrient-rich soil and smart plant spacing ensuring bountiful harvests. Brick-built cooking areas with tables and benches make outdoor dining a treat.
By June 2022, the first terrace was complete, and the team worked to finish two more. What started as a hill is now a sustainable masterpiece—a self-sufficient farmhouse with apartments, a veggie garden, and an outdoor kitchen. This isn’t just a build; it’s a revolution in sustainable, modern living, blending nature and innovation into one inspiring project.
