"A strange court lady is laughing while catching insects." Rumors like this spread throughout the palace, and Maomao is falsely accused. In order to clear up the misunderstanding, she seeks out Zicui, the source of the rumor, and while listening to her story, she happens to see Empress Dowager An Shi heading to the clinic. Curious about the purpose of her visit, she reluctantly returns to the Jade Palace, only to be visited by the Empress Dowager in the evening of the same day. The Empress Dowager then asks Maomao to investigate the previous emperor, asking if she had placed a curse on him.
