Mari Hamada ( 浜田麻里 ) is born on July 18, 1962 in Tokyo, Japan. She is a Japanese heavy metal and pop rock singer, songwriter, and producer. Since her debut in 1983, Hamada has been known as the "Heavy Metal Queen" of Japan. Throughout her career, she has released 25 singles and 23 studio albums. Her sister Eri Hamada 浜田絵里 is known as her backup singer. _____________________________________ What makes Mari the best Japanese singer? No other Japanese singer is simply capable of doing what she has done, let alone do it at her age, some of these things that she's capable of doing are: 0:17 Ease On High Notes 3:30 Versatility 7:53 Breath Support 8:45 Continuous Improvement 12:38 Stamina ______________________________________ To be more objective, I've decided to mention her weaknesses here, not to make the video longer than it is already: 1- Non-unified Vowel Shaping: Mari might have some sloppy vowel shapings at times, making it a bit hard to identify the words she's pronuncing. Her vowels tend to be unequally treated, for example the oo vowel (as in "fool") tends to be headier that the other vowels that she's sometimes completely swiches on the oo vowel to head voice and then goes back to mix for the other vowels (that's not necessarily bad but it shows that the vowels aren't treated equally.) The most resonant vowel is Oh vowel followed by the Ah voweo. The Eh vowel tends to be a big too spread which cause throatiness. 2- Pitch Issues: One of the biggest flaws Mari has. Like many other high belters Mari has an issue with pitch throughout her entire range. sometimes it's more severe some other times it's not as bad. 3- Questionable Tensions: occasional throatiness, jaw tension and tongue tension might linger to her singing. Nothing too frequent though. nasality can be present at times, arguably stylistic. _________________________________________ Instagram: @the_phantom_of_singing ________________________________________
