"Rethinking the Automobile" was this year's keynote speech by entrepreneur and livable streets activist Mark Gorton at the Oregon Active Transportation Summit in Salem, Oregon.
Gorton, founder and president of the Open Plans Project, claims that auto oriented planning is failed policy that has lead to an unsafe, degraded, and costly urban environment. He challenges to Oregonians to preserve their heritage of innovative transportation and land use planning by setting the bar higher for the rest of the nation to follow.
