Mark Kermode reviews Room. 5 year-old Jack lives a simple life with his Ma; playing games, keeping fit and watching TV – all within the confines of a single room. As far as he is concerned, ‘Room’ is the entire world. There is nothing else, and everything he sees on TV is just fake. But after celebrating his fifth birthday, Ma tells Jack he is ready to learn the horrific truth, and Jack’s world becomes much bigger.
