Masaaki Satake Born: 17/08/1965 Height: 1.85 m (6'1") Division: Heavyweight Fighting Style: Seidokaikan & Kyokushin Karate Kickboxing Record: ~22-12-5 (15 KOs) MMA Record: 1-8-1 (1 KO) Major Titles: Karate World Cup Champion, ISKA & UKF World Heavyweight Champion, WKA & KICK World Super Heavyweight Champion After graduating from university, a young Masaaki Satake was offered a career in television but refused in favor of becoming a full-time martial artist. Within a few years, he was one of the most successful karateka in the world, eventually earning a dozen All-Japan tournament victories. His success attracted the interest of Master Kazuyoshi Ishii, the founder of the Seidokaikan organization. Ishii saw Satake as the perfect contender to fulfilling his dream of a Japanese heavyweight champion, and thus helped mold the fighter into the star of his karate company and later into a pioneer of his new kickboxing empire. Whereas Satake had been a national sports figure as a karate competitor, he found international superstardom in the burgeoning K-1 organization. Matched against the very best strikers in the world, the so-called King of Monsters represented his style and country dynamically. From 1993 to 1999, he won a total of four world titles, two national tournaments and the 1993 Karate World Cup. In 1994, he reached the finals of the vaunted World Grand Prix. Satake retired from kickboxing due to dissatisfaction with K-1 and his former teacher. He pursued an MMA career for the following two years, but remains best known for his exploits in stand-up martial arts. He now boasts a kickboxing record of approximately 22-12-5 with 15 knockout victories, and was the first Japanese heavyweight to hold a major world championship since 1979. He also held innumerable karate titles. Across his fighting career, he earned significant victories over Stan Longinidis, Branko Cikatic and Andy Hug, among others. Satake currently works as a human resource specialist and karate instructor. --------- This video features matches against Ahmed Muhammad, Chris Blanner, Denis Podolyachin, Gary Sandland, Kimo Leopoldo, Kirkwood Walker, Masashi Suzuki, Yoji Anjo, Musashi, Sadakazu Kiyohara, Don Nakaya Nielsen, Toru Oishi, Jeff Hollins, Stan Longinidis, Branko Cikatic, Willie Williams, Peter Aerts, Gary Goodridge, Mike Bernardo, Dennis Lane, Rob Kaman, Andy Hug and Peter Oele. --------- –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Music: Natural Born Killer - Dynazty https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pck2j0xPYlU –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Thumbnail: Middle-Edge https://middle-edge.jp/articles/I0000648 ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
