Mass Effect is one of the most memorable and unique trilogies in video games - specifically for letting players shape the outcome of a galactic war effort against existential annihilation, transferring individual choices across entries and influencing both characters and the plot, all within one console generation. Mass Effect is -so- much it's impossible to meaningfully pin all of it down, but what it's trying to say is fundamentally player-reflexive. Let's take a look back, from Mass Effect to Andromeda.
