This is part 2 of 6 in a celestial navigation master class available free here: https://practical-navigator-training.teachable.com/p/mastering-celestial-navigation Part 1 of the course deals with navigation basics, the marine sextant, taking sextant sights, and correcting those sights from Hs (Height per sextant) to Ho (Height observed). We take into account index error, height of eye, altitude corrections, and abnormal conditions. Part 2 of the course deals with finding the geographic position of the celestial body at any time. We deal with GHA and Declination, including SHA of stars. We also discuss the noon sight for latitude and time of phenomena problems. Part 3 of the course deals with building a navigational triangle by choosing an assumed position, determining an LHA, and choosing values of latitude and declination to enter HO229. Part 4 of the course deals with solving the navigational triangle to determine a computed height (Hc), altitude difference (d) and Azimuth (Z/Zn). Part 5 of the course deals with comparing Hc to Ho and plotting the azimuth and intercept on a universal plotting sheet. The course has over 250 practice problems with solutions and over 55 video lessons. It also has electronic versions of required publications and an illustrated textbook PDF to go along with the course. The course is available free from Practical Navigator Training.
