A sure way to limit your self-defense skill is to omit the brilliance of JKD's non-telegraphic striking. Bruce Lee was renowned for his ability to dart in and nail a guy before he knew it was coming. It wasn't magic! It was the genius of the "falling step" (as Dempsey called it) or, in our gym, the "push-shuffle lead punch." Done properly it will give you a critical edge over the opponent.
Let's face it, bridging the gap is a skill that few master - and most of us are frustrated by it. The backbone of JKD is the straight punch - the intercepting punch, and the non-telegraphic push-shuffle version. In this video we break it down for you.
