Carburetor float height determines fuel level, which affects how rich or lean the air-fuel mixture is throughout the operating range. H-D provides a specific procedure for measuring float height, but care must still be exercised to obtain accurate results. The correct angle of inclination may depend on the style of float the carburetor has. H-D updated the floats in 1992, so the proper inclination angle for those carbs is likely different than that for the early pumper carb, shown in the video. The bottom line is that the carburetor must be inclined such that the float tang just contacts the spring-loaded plunger of the float-valve needle without compressing the spring-loaded plunger.
