RECIPE The Meat & Potato Pie is a great British institution, but every area had their own take on this classic pie. My Yorkshire Meat & Potato Pie is the same recipe I used in may bakeries or more than 60 years both in the UK and also here in Spain. A few years ago this particular pie got a bad press due to unscrupulous bakers padding out the pie with potato and cutting down on the meat content. Consequently, the powers that be made them change the name of the pie to ‘Potato & Meat Pie’. Although the authorities tried to make us change ours, we never did, simply because our pie always contained more meat than potato. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RECIPE: 700g Beef 500g Potato 3 Garlic Cloves 2 tbls Plain Flour 300lm Beef Stock 300ml Red Wine or more Beef Stock 1 Large Onion (250g approx.) 1 tbls Tomato Paste 1 tbls Worcester Sauce 2 Bay Leaves 1 Sprig Thyme 1tsp Mustard Powder (Optional) Salt & Pepper Link to my Pastry Recipes: https://mr-pauls-pantry.com/pastry-recipes/ My tins are 120cm x 35cm Please don’t ask me where I bought them.
